The Cinccino Team is my ninth and last team for Generation VIII, though it was never intended to be the last one. Rather, the intent was to transition into using Pokémon made available via Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as I thought there would be another wave of Pokémon to bring into Sword and Shield in this way. Rather, Sword and Shield availability remained the same after Crown Tundra. I spent the rest of the generation seeing if they'd ever put in more, but it doesn't seem to be the case. And by the time Pokémon Legends: Arceus came out, it felt a bit passé to make a new Pokémon team specifically for Galar. And hence, the Cinccino Team would be the last one.

The Cinccino Team's playlist is as such:

In case you missed it, all of the Pokémon on this team are Normal-type. You've seen how I go for Pokémon not normally seen in online play at the time the teams were made; I wanted to do a bit of testing if I have what it takes to bring these teams a step further and theme them. It was a bit of a shame I had already chosen Heliolisk to anchor the Cursola Team, because Heliolisk would've been a natural fit, and without Sawsbuck in Sword and Shield, Heliolisk is the only fully-evolved Normal-type available who can hit Water-type Pokémon for super-effective STAB damage.

Like the Raichu Team, the Cinccino Team was built to fight Restricted Pokémon. By the time this team was ready, the rule for two Restricted Pokémon had already been announced, so I had planned for this accordingly. Every Pokémon on this team was designed to counter something I'd expect to commonly see under this rule set, though some counters are more specific than others. For instance, Diggersby is here to take on Zacian, while Obstagoon has his crosshairs on Calyrex Shadow Rider. Though not Restricted, Unfezant was trained with countering Chlorophyll Venusaur in mind.

For reasons I've never understood, this team is a magnet for Calyrex Shadow Rider. Their strongest move, Astral Barrage, would have no effect on any of the Pokémon on this team by virtue of it being a Ghost-type move against an all-Normal team. Predictably, the Cinccino Team has clobbered almost every Calyrex Shadow Rider it has encountered.

A year and a half later, I would say that, despite me being tied to a theme, this is one of my strongest teams. This gives me confidence that I can make more themed teams in the future, and that is written in the cards for Generation IX, provided I can have all of the necessary Pokémon. I think I'll wait until later into the generation to start making themed teams though, so I can get a good bead on the metagame. In addition, I'd need very specific Pokémon for these teams, and I'd need to wait and see if they all become available. For instance, I can theoretically make a team entirely out of Pokémon based on frogs and toads: Poliwrath, Politoed, Toxicroak, Seismitoad, Greninja, and Bellibolt. But I don't know if they will all be available or not at any point during the next generation.

By the way, now that the generation is hours away from ending, I'll let you in on what would have been in my 10th team for Pokémon Sword and Shield: Toxicroak, Dodrio, Lanturn, Slurpuff, Chimecho, Regidrago. Can't do that with any one game though.

Type: Single Battle
Opponent: Meledy (211)
Stadium: Default Stadium
Music: Eternatus 2
My Pokémon: Wellington (Obstagoon), Melody (Wigglytuff), Lani (Cinccino), Boyd (Unfezant)
Opponent's Pokémon: Incineroar, Regieleki, Urshisu (Rapid Strike), Rillaboom

And with that, we say our goodbyes to Galar! Because I failed to do so for Generation VIII, I will use at least one Pokémon from Generation III on a permanent team for Scarlet and Violet! I promise!
