It is time for some Restricted Sparring, this is a Battle Facility on the Isle of Armor that is only available after completing the main story for Isle of Armor. In Restricted Sparring, you can only use three Pokémon of the chosen type, so in this case, I went with Normal, but I will be showing all 18 types, and you must complete up to 5 battles to achieve victory.
I have tested it out before with Water-type Pokémon, and your opponents are not restricted to one type, so things will get challenging when you advance further, and you can only heal up to two times, so make every move count.
I went with a good team of Normal-types, and I have read about how good Indeedee with Psychic Surge is in the Normal-type Restricted Sparring, and I am using a male Indeedee, and he has Expanding Force, which doubles in power when Psychic Terrain is active, and it is a Tutor move, and it is great on any Psychic-type Pokémon that can take advantage of Psychic Terrain.
For my other team members, Porygon-Z was a good option, it has a Choice Scarf and some good Special moves, like Tri Attack, Psychic, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt, and if I feel that I am not in the greatest match-up, I can Dynamax it. I decided to give Cinccino a try for this one, and when I read that Cinccino can learn Triple Axel, an Ice-type move that is like Triple Kick, it was the move to go for, and Triple Axel will always hit 3 times with Skill Link, so I like how much improvement Cinccino got. I find that Cinccino is a Pokémon that gets a bit overlooked, but it can be surprisingly good if you know how to use it, and with Skill Link, that can make Tail Slap a dangerous move to be up against. I have even checked to see if there were any Pokémon with Skill Link that can learn Scale Shot, a Dragon-type move that hits 2-5 times, and not a single one could get that move.
I will list some other notable Normal-type options, Snorlax is a great choice, specially if it has Gluttony and is holding a Figy Berry, and if it is capable of Gigantamaxing, because G-Max Replenish will restore its held Berry, and it can learn the new Steel Roller, which can become a powerful Max Steelspike, giving Snorlax more Defense so it can last longer in battle, specially if you use Belly Drum before Gigantamaxing.
Chansey and Porygon2 are some good options as they can use the Eviolite, and they can take hits really well, although Chansey isn't the best at taking Physical hits, but it does have a lot of HP. Obstagoon is another good choice, specially if you have one with Guts and lead the fight with Obstruct so that its Flame Orb will activate, and then get in some huge damage with moves like Facade and Knock Off. For a part Flying-type, Braviary can fill in for an option against Fighting-type opponents, specially if you Dynamax it and use Max Airstream, then Braviary should be able to outspeed a lot of opponents. For other dual typed Pokémon, Diggersby, Heliolisk, Drampa, and Bewear are some decent Pokémon to use, or you could use early-game Pokémon like Dubwool or Greedent, but other than that, you could use your favourite Normal-type Pokémon for this one.
If you really want to have fun with Normal-types, you could use a Ditto with Imposter, so you can use the opponent's Pokémon to your advantage, if the opponent has any moves you can make use of. Some other decent Normal-types, while they are not the best choices, Tauros, Kangaskhan, Miltank, Stoutland, Wigglytuff, Exploud, Lickilicky, Bouffalant, or any others could be decent, specially if you have a favourite out of any Normal-type Pokémon available in this game, and I have also read that Silvally is a viable Pokémon in Restricted Sparring, because Silvally can be any type, and it can learn a wide variety of moves, so it can fill in for that type depending on what its held memory is.
