This is where I get to test out Dragapult in online matches in Pokémon UNITE, and this is during the weekend event where all Pokémon are available to players, and in this video, you might see some players using Comfey, that is the new Pokémon added in the most recent update, it is a Supporter with a special gimmick, I will go more about Comfey in another video, as this video is about Dragapult.
Dragapult is an Attacker that specializes in Ranged moves, it starts out matches as Dreepy, and it has Clear Body, which reduces the duration of debuff effects inflicted onto it. For Dragapult's basic attack, its boosted attack gauge increases, and when it is full, its basic attack becomes boosted attacks, which have increased damage, and the gauge depletes if Dragapult is not attacking opposing Pokémon for a set amount of time.
As a Dreepy, it has a weak early game, its starting moves are Astonish and Quick Attack, Astonish is a ranged attack which deals damage and decreases the opposing Pokémon's movement speed for a short time, and Quick Attack is a dash attack that increases Dreepy's basic attack speed for a short time.
At Level 5, Dreepy will evolve into Drakloak, and it will learn Phantom Force or Dragon Dance, they replace Quick Attack. Dragon Dance has Drakloak move in a circular pattern, and it can deal damage to opposing Pokémon with its basic attacks that deal less damage but have increased attack speed, and if used again, Drakloak moves to a designated location, and the cooldown is reset if it knocks out an opposing Pokémon. Phantom Force increases Drakloak's movement speed and it enters stealth, making it work like Sableye, and when stealth ends, Drakloak's basic attack speed is increased for a short time, and the cooldown is reset if it knocks out an opposing Pokémon, and its Attack is boosted until the end of the battle, and it does stack, which does help during the Drakloak stage.
At Level 7, it learns either Dragon Breath or Shadow Ball, which replace Astonish. Dragon Breath deals damage and decreases the movement speed of opposing Pokémon for a short time, and it can leave the ground burning, decreasing the movement speed if any opposing Pokémon make contact with it, and it can be used while Drakloak is using Dragon Dance, and the cooldown for Dragon Breath is reset while Dragon Dance is used. Shadow Ball is a ranged move that deals damage and applying a mark to them, allowing Drakloak's moves to deal increased damage, and when hit the fourth time, the mark is removed, and Drakloak can recover HP and gain a further damage boost.
At Level 9, Drakloak will evolve into Dragapult and learn its Unite move, which is called Dreep and Destroy, and this one is very unique, it has a very short cooldown time, and Dragapult can have up to two uses in reserve. Dragapult launches two Dreepy at its opponents, it will deal damage to two opposing Pokémon, and it deals more damage the lower the opposing Pokémon's HP is, and if there is only one opposing Pokémon, both Dreepy target that Pokémon, making this Unite move identical to the move Dragon Darts, which is Dragapult's signature move in the main series games.
At Level 11, Dragon Dance or Phantom Force are upgraded, while Dragapult is flying when using Dragon Dance, its basic attacks restore its HP when they hit any opposing Pokémon, and Phantom Force reduces the cooldown of the move when Dragapult deals damage to the opposing Pokémon with basic attacks. At Level 13, Dragon Breath or Shadow Ball are upgraded, Dragon Breath deals increased damage and further reduces the movement speed of opposing Pokémon, and Shadow Ball increases the amount of base damage and additional damage dealt to the opponent.
Dragapult's playstyle is similar to other Attackers, like Cinderace or Greninja where they can deal some huge damage to opponents with their ranged moves, and with a unique effect to its Unite Move, where it has a very short cooldown and can keep up to two uses, Dragapult makes a good user of items like Buddy Barrier and Energy Amplifier. Dragapult has downsides, its early game is really weak, which makes it better at the Central Area during the Dreepy stage, and if it can get some boosts with Phantom Force, even as a Drakloak, it can get enough Attack boosts to deal enough damage to its opponents.
