Fan of fantasy? Partial to portals? Crave creatures to collect? Pixel art... also something that you like? Then take a look at Portal Fantasy, an upcoming creature collecting game where porbles, adorable critters that can operate magical portals, are just waiting to be caught!

Very first thing I'll say about this game: I did an off-camera playthrough with Groobeet, then I recorded with Charpup, then I went back and played through with Axolil just for the fun of it. The demo is short, but it was so fun that I just had to try all three starters. And I'm really glad I did because they feel so different! Groobeet is very tanky and holds up well for most of the demo (just watch out when you get to the desert and its fire porbles), Charpup is a fairly solid all-arounder, and Axolil absolutely destroys with an ability that's cheap to cast and hits hard but is definitely the least survivable of the three options.

I feel like in the demo, I was trying to be helpful by pointing out bugs and a couple things that could be added, but I didn't talk enough about the good things in the game. The art is really awesome and charming, giving a classic feel while still being fresh and interesting. The design of the porbles in particular is great, bringing designs unlike what I've seen in other creature collectors. The music is also incredibly well done, and I already have a couple songs stuck in my head :') The battle animations are interesting and feel very representative of not only what's happening but what element type the moves are, which I feel is very important in these kinds of games and makes things easier to understand quickly so decisions can be made.

I'm a little sad the quest/dungeon building aspect didn't make it into the demo, but when Portal Fantasy is fully released, you can bet I'll be playing the game and checking that out. And I hope to see all of you there, too!
