Portal Gameplay - First Twelve Levels with and without RTX
I needed a moment of relief while dealing with a large pile of homework over here. Today, I played Portal and compared it to the recently released "Portal with RTX". Since I didn't have much time to play the games as I like to, I just played the first twelve levels, which is just before the point where the game gets serious with the puzzles. I wanted to show where to pick up, and then drop, the radios to complete the "Transmission Received" achievement in the original game. I attempted to do the same on Portal with RTX, but apparently they omitted that feature, since I couldn't find more radios, other that the one in the beginning of the game, and even that one didn't change the music when I moved it to the location where the transmission interrupts the music.
Portal with RTX looks great, but really needs to be optimized. The motion feels terrible and, therefore, it plays much slower the original, which, on the contrary, runs smoothly. The game could be awesome, but it needs to run much smoother than the current version.
I don't think I will play more of this for some time. Mostly because I already unlocked all achievements of the original Portal, but if Portal with RTX issues get fixed, I would play it again.
