Posing DAZ Characters in Blender using Shape Keys
In this episode I'll show you how to create shape keys from posed DAZ characters in Blender. This will allow us to create the equivalent of morph dials in Blender, and they're so useful for anything from shaping your character outside of DAZ Studio, to applying poses in Blender without having to transfer rigging information.
In principle, we'll export a base character shape (like an A or T pose) and a posed version as OBJ files, then import them both into Blender and join both shapes, thereby creating a shape key. Written instructions are here: https://www.versluis.com/2017/08/how-to-import-an-obj-as-shape-key-in-blender/
You can also use shape keys in clothing you may build around various characters. If you ever need to export shape keys to bring them back into DAZ Studio via Morph Loader, there's a handy script that can take care of multiple shape keys for you: https://www.versluis.com/2017/08/how-to-export-all-shape-keys-as-obj-files-in-blender/
