Potionomics - The First Two Days (Introduction to the Game)
9Been a while since my last video, not that there weren't a few attempts that didn't pan out (mostly due to the recording not working, or failing to capture my voice over).
I've been a bit interested in this Potionomics games. There aren't that many shop management games out there, and of the ones that do exist most of them don't seem that good. This one has potential, I think. Vibrant art style, seems like the gameplay whilst somewhat limited in action is well made. It should be fairly accessible, since it doesn't require fast reflexes, and the mechanics aren't especially complicated. It's one part shop management, one part crafting, and one part dating sim, though that last part is only implied in this video, as I haven't gotten nearly far enough to build up relationships to the point of romance.
Those that are into shop management games have almost certainly heard of Recettear, which IMO is the gold standard of shop management games. This game has clear inspiration taken from that game, though it differs somewhat both in art style, and how the gameplay works. Particularly, there doesn't seem to be any combat with the adventuring component, but rather you hire an adventurer to do that for you, though you can give them items to increase their success rate. You could call this a spiritual sequel to Recettear, I think.
The game is apparently Steam Deck Verified. Not too surprising, since it doesn't have fast paced combat or anything like that. Still, it's definitely a plus in their book.
Currently it seems the game is only available on Steam, but that might change in future. They offer the base game, a deluxe edition which includes the game, art book, and original soundtrack. There is also separate DLC for the soundtrack as well. Oddly, no option for either the art book or a deluxe version upgrade, so if you want the digital art book you have to get the deluxe version.
