Power Strike II Normal Mode ALL CLEAR (Score: 3,016,870)
Ah, the legendary bank breaker of a rare game: Power Strike II on the Master System. There's a reason why it's expensive, and well, this game is great!
It has most of the goodness GG Aleste 3 has while keeping the signature Compile shooter stage design. Frantic but not random, exciting and functional shot types, and the stage design together with the boss designs overall encourage weapon switching really well! And one of the reasons all weapons are viable is because the bullet erasing is not necessarily bound to only specific shot types. There is this mechanic called Super Burst. You charge it by keep shooting. When you release it, you will shoot bullets erase most enemy bullets. Think of it as a charge bomb. It creates exciting scenarios where you'll strategize either to keep the shot or when it ran out, you dodge many of the enemy bullets until you can shoot the Super Burst to safety. Exciting stuff!
I mainly use 1, 3 and 6 shots. 1 for crowd control, 3 for boss busting, absurdly effective but pretty hard to use actually. Not recommended on stages, and 6 for its defensive capability. But due to its abysmal fire rate it's not omnipotent, which is a good thing. The shot designs of this game is one of the best in the market.
Also while the game is easy, it's also tough. The key to make the game humane is the weapon switching. Study the stages well! The game is also quite generous with the extends and protections. Maybe it's because it was made with Brazilians in mind.
Thanks to M2 for providing a version of the game people can legally purchase with reasonable price! This is a very important must play game!
I do find it weird why there are 2 different Power Strike IIs. Old releases shenanigans much?
