PPSSPP Sega Rally Revo Safari Tracks 1-3 GT 710 Core 2 Duo E8400 Subaru WRX
The PSP release of Sega Rally Revo offers up some different tracks than its PC and console namesake. In this video we race Safari tracks 1, 2 and 3.
Gameplay resolution is 1440x816 with FXAA enabled, and even though the this game has a 30fps cap we still recorded at 1280x720 60fps because this will be the native resolution and refresh rate of 90% of small used TVs that you can get for super cheap or even free to use as a monitor. On this PC I use a dual monitor setup with a 22-inch Dell and a 19-inch Sharp LCD TV (11 and 13 years old, respectively).
All gameplay capture as well as video editing was done on this machine. MSI Afterburner was used for game recording and Openshot was used to edit the video. I used GIMP to create any text overlays. MSI Afterburner is a well known free overclocking (or in my case underclocking) and game recording software and both Openshot and GIMP are open-source (a video and image editor, respectively) software that I use in both Windows and Linux.
The PC used to make this video: HP 6000 Pro SFF desktop (from 2009)
(Windows 7 64-bit)
Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.0 GHz (stock)
4 GB DDR3 Ram @ 1333 MHz
Kingston 480 GB SSD
WD 250 GB HDD (the original one)
ASUS GT 710 1GD5 silent
(downclocked from 954 to 904 MHz)*
*This is a small fanless video card with a Kepler-based GPU. It is not meant to be used for gaming but rather as a 0 decibel upgrade for a home theater or office PC. When pushed in games to 100% usage at its default clock speed of 954 MHz it can hit the 90-95 degrees C range. By downclocking to 904 MHz (only about 5% - not that much) the maximum temperature hit by the GPU is about 80 degrees C. I have had this card for almost 2 years and it works as good now as the day I bought it. I would suggest the Gigabyte GT 710 DDR5 with a fan if you want a version of this GPU that can be pushed a little harder - and it's one of the least expensive (about $35 US at the beginning of 2021) cards you can get.
Remember to always get the DDR5 version of this GPU and NOT the DDR3 version. The DDR5 version will be a useful improvement over integrated graphics in any desktop equipped with a Core 2 Duo or Quad (2006) all the way up to a 4th gen i3 or even i5 (2014). The DDR3 version can barely manage 2/3 the performance and many games will remain unplayable where the DDR5 version will offer up a steady 30+ FPS at the same graphics settings.
Thanks for watching!
