Here's my preview for Tech Support: Error Unknown, an interesting take on a call centre sim with a nice hacktivist twist. I'm looking forward to this game, let me tell you why.

Tech Support: Error Unknown is a futuristic call centre simulator with a twist. You are the new employee of Quasar Corporation, a big telecom giant, and you just landed a job at the support desk. That's normally speaking not the most exciting job, but in Tech Support: Error Unknown things get interesting pretty fast. Apparently Quasar is involved in some shady business. Hacktivist Indigo Fox informs you about Quasar secretly stealing data from their users. This leaves you with a decision. Are you staying loyal to the company, who's also paying the bills, or are you going rogue, sabotaging them in the process?
The premise reminded me very much of the Circle. That's originally a book, which I didn't read, but was adapted to a movie, which I saw. It wasn't a great movie, but the concept was very much like this one. Emma Watson works her way up through her support desk job, but figures out that The Circle is like Facebook, stealing and selling data and making people dependent on their platform. They seek total control and it's up to her to stop them.
Tech Support: Error Unknown has a demo available and this preview is largely based on playing that demo. Besides that, this game appeals to me, because my day job is being an IT architect for contact centre applications.
The demo starts with a small tutorial. You have a database of information where you can find solutions to customers issues. There's an email client available. And there's also the contact centre desktop. You log in, receive client tickets and it's up to you to handle them.
One aspect I already really enjoyed was the hectic pace at which the game serves you customer tickets. It doesn't take long before you're stressed out, trying to handle 3 tickets while also finding the right answers. Wait too long, and customers get inpatient. Give the wrong answers, and they get annoyed. Mess it up too much, and the client ticket fails. Then, your supervisor starts harassing you. You average handling time and customer satisfaction determine your wage and future promotions. It's quite realistic, within the confines of gaming, of course.
This demo got me excited for the actual game. I'm really curious how far this hacktivist organization is willing to go. I already had limited options to hack into the Operating System and judging by the trailer, these options will only be expanded. I can imagine you'll be able to steal, rob, hack, sabotage and whatnot. There's already this customer that keeps harassing me about getting medicine for his sick mother and he wants money. I can't do anything for this guy currently, because I'm only allowed to tell people how to reset their cell phone basically, but I can imagine after gaining advanced access to Quasars network, I would be able to maybe wire him some money. Or wire myself some additional salary. That'd be pretty cool.
All in all, looks promising, I'd say and I can't wait to review the whole game. Subscribe for more previews and reviews and I'll see you soon. Bye bye
