The Prince, who unleashed the Sands of Time in the first game, is pursued by the monstrous Dahaka, a guardian of the timeline who wants to wipe him out to prevent the catastrophic events caused by the Sands. Over the course of the game, players will witness the Prince transform into a darker character as he battles the Dahaka and deals with the consequences of his actions.
The atmosphere of the game is darker compared to its predecessor. It offers improved combat mechanics with a variety of combo moves, new weapons and the ability to dual wield weapons. The game has multiple endings that are influenced by the player's decisions during the game.
