I have had a lot of fond memories of Makai Kingdom when I first played it on the Playstation 2 back in the day. It's also the first NIS game that I played before I went on to a bunch of their other games like Disgaea. Much like the Disgaea franchise, Makai Kingdom (Known as Phantom Kingdom in Japan) has the same sense of humor and satirical writing that I enjoy a lot from the series and retains a similar style of Turn-based strategy gameplay though with a few differences such as the fact you are not moving on a grid but having a certain distance your units can travel and so on. The Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Steam port for Makai Kingdom is also based on the PSP version which wasn't released in the west until now.
So far I am having a lot of fun but I also can note that they could've done a little bit more when it comes to remastering the game. But I cannot deny that I felt a good bit of nostalgia while playing.
