Problems capturing footage from Megadrive at 60hz

So here's a request for help, I bought an extra little RGB switch box so I could capture footage from my Megadrive easily, but I'm seeing issues.

The first part of the clip is the footage captured with the Megadrive running at 50hz, it's passable, aside from those annoying little artifacts down the bottom, but you can really hear the slowdown.

Quick reset into 60hz and WTF, suddenly my Megadrive is rainbow coloured, very pretty but not much use for capturing.

I use an RGB switch so i take one output to the TV which looks and sounds perfect, and from the box another composite output to a dazzle USB capture thingy running on a mac.

I really don't want to do any captures in 50hz, anyone experienced this sort of thing before and can offer any advice ?

Please ignore the dodgy sounds, normally i would run this through a mixer to sort the levels out.. this was just a quick test.
