Programming in BASIC on the Color Computer - Chapter 23 part 2 - demo updates
This is an updated video on my most recent video covering Chapter 23 on Programming in BASIC on the Color Computer, which covered the SET, RESET, POINT, JOYSTK and PEEK commands.
I wrote a few custom demos to try and do a slightly better job at demonstrating and visualizing these concepts and commands, but a few things fell a little flat and were weighing me down.
My original Joystick/Print demo only showed off 1 joystick, so I added the 2nd, you can now move both joysticks around, and visually see their X and Y coordinates, and if their buttons are pressed.
My Joystick paint program attempted to give us a blinking cursor to show our current screen location, but the blink method was destructive and would erase pixels already on-screen.
I updated the "blinking cursor" routine to use PEEK and POKE to put a reverse asterisk on screen to show the cursor location, and since I would use PEEK to "GET" the original background data, I could then POKE to "PUT" it back, restoring the background, which achieves my original intended goal with a slick visual effect.
