The Russian Navy plans to operate around 40 vessels to mitigate the impact of the Project 12700 in 2030, Navy Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolyov said at a meeting on surface shipbuilding on Tuesday.
"Anti-mine defense vessels are being built in series as part of efforts to develop and rearm Navy naval mines. Before 2030, the Russian Navy plans to operate around 40 Project 12700 mine handling vessels," the Navy chief said.
Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard uses the most advanced Russian technology that is unmatched in world shipbuilding to build this minesweeper. Ships The project has a unique and largest hull in the world made of monolithic glass fiber reinforced plastic. The hull weight is far less than the metal version while its strength increases significantly. This hull is really not susceptible to corrosion while its working life is practically unlimited, considering compliance with its operating standards.
The 12700 project has been developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau for the Russian Navy. This type of warship refers to a new generation of landmine forces and is designed to fight sea mines, which can be found by new ships in the sea and on the seabed without entering dangerous zones.
