Russia's Yantar shipyard on the Baltic coast has launched work to build two Project 11356 frigates for the Indian Navy, Russia's state arms export press office Rosoboronexport reported on Friday.

"Rosoboronexport sees the great potential of Yantar Shipyard to develop and produce high-tech products supplied as part of military and technical cooperation. Its capacity has produced more than $ 1 billion in export hardware and today Shipyard has begun fulfilling one of the contracts the largest for the Indian Navy, "the state arms exporter press office quoted Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev as saying.

Chief executive Rosoboronexport made this statement while working in Kaliningrad where he met with Kaliningrad Regional Governor Anton Alikhanov, Yantar Shipyard CEO Eduard Yefimov and Indian Defense Ministry delegation led by First Deputy Secretary of Defense Sanjay Mitra.
