Project MSX | Gensokyo: Danger Canyon | No Failure Run | Part 1
When I heard that PMSX was a gameplay mod that brings the mechanics from Halo (among other modern shooters) to Doom, I was a bit restrained in trying it out. Know me long enough, and you'll know that cheap HP regen in shooters is a particularly annoying pet peeve of mine, dropping the scores of even great modern FPS shooters in my mind. After trying it out, I still somewhat stand that I don't particularly like it, but atleast having some form of nonregen HP relieved some of the concerns.
For a good while, I struggled to find a good map. Most maps that are in my folders are stuff that's regular Doom techbase/hell/etc themed, rarely ones with an interesting custom theme. If there is one, they're usually put in the To-Run-With-HDest list. That is until I checked the folders from Joel's Doom contest, the name immediately clicked. Danger Canyon. Perfect.
Anyways, today I both challenge myself and test how exactly good PMSX's shielding capabilities are against overwhelming bullets. Naturally, this is just an excuse for me to run Touhou Doom with something again, so here we are.
Demo recording. Ultra/Nightmare. Yes, prepare to see a lot of lag from me trying to dodge twice the bullethell for today. The darkness of this map really helps making the bullets pop up.
