Here's another preview for the Project Ulysses mod for HOI4 ( https://discord.gg/V3afznGC69 ). Aka, that one ambitious effort to bring the world of Strangereal from Ace Combat to life. This time, however, the focus is on super events based on Circum-Pacific War depicted in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War ( https://acecombat.fandom.com/wiki/Circum-Pacific_War ). Specifically, an invasion of the Russo-Slavic Yuktobania, and what would happen should mass demobilization occur in the name of fostering peace.

For those unfamiliar, Namco Bandai's Ace Combat (currently headed by Project Aces) is an arcade flight action game that could be best described as either "Metal Gear with planes" or an anime saga that happens to involve jets. For some trivia and credits, the clips are taken from the AC5 missions "Ice Cage" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtUwjU-LFWs ) and "ACES" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpwZr8POQ9I ), with the music also being taken from those respective levels. For the latter, in particular, there are different variations of the bittersweet "The Journey Home" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6-PKe-XQpI ). There's also a reference to the "Arkbird Declaration" from the lore ( https://acecombat.fandom.com/wiki/Arkbird_Declaration:_Summit_2008 )

While done at the request of the modding team, my choice of that specific song and context is also intentional to highlight the anti-war and peacekeeping undertones of the song, given the motif of Cold War détente, revenge, and reconciliation. Which frankly...is needed now, regardless of which side you're on.
