TNO Custom Super Event: Konpeki no Kantai (Alternate Continuity Japan)
A new year, and new TNO custom content...with a bit of a twist. This one follows a version of TNO in which Isoroku Yamamoto stages a conspiracy against both Konoe and Tojo. Though it only comes to fruition on November 1941, it leads to a drastically altered version of the Pacific War involving a tenuous truce with a humbled US and Britain, running battles in the Indian Ocean against the Nazis, and the gradual reinstitution of Taisho Democracy by 1950.
All, however, is not what it seems. It's 1963. A tenuous multipolar cold war ensues between the OFN, the Reich, and Japan's Co-Prosperity Sphere. The Empire has reached the limits of the restored Taisho system, and struggles internally over whether to embrace further liberalizations and reform, or fall back to the embrace of the old Taisei Yokusankai. Hardliners and remnants of the old order flock to the Kwantung Army in Manchukuo, forming what's increasingly seen as a parallel Imperial regime. All it might take is for some damned thing in China, or the nominally independent "Far East Republic" snatched from the ashes of Bukharin's USSR, to push the Rising Sun to the brink.
This scenario is heavily based on the alternate-history Konpeki no Kantai/Deep Blue Fleet series, which could be best described as "What if Yamamoto was mentally isekaied at his OTL death back to 1905?" It makes for some surreal viewing to say the least, but it does make for some interesting ideas.
For some trivia, the clips used at the opening and ending are taken straight from the Konpeki no Kantai OVAs animated by JC Staff from 1993 to 2003. The tracks used are renditions of "Kimigayo" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dRMRubRDGM ) and "Tsurukame" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEou_EdZp-U) by Kosaku Yamada. As well as "Koremade no Arasuji Shoutarou Maachi" ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajgnoZak3bw ) by Shiro Sagisu, which coincidentally is an instrumental cover of the 1960s Gigantor anime ending.
