Promo/Review - No Thing (XSX) - #NoThing - 3.0/10
This is a gameplay recording of myself playing No Thing on Xbox Series X.
The game code has been provided by the publisher, 'Forever Entertainment' for the purpose of streaming, promoting, and reviewing this title.
I truly tried to like this, but there's so many things that just aren't fun about it:
1) The 'glitchy' effect that sometimes happens when a colour change is triggered.
2) The '3D' red/blue line blur effect that sometimes happens when a colour change is triggered.
3) Literally having NO directional marker or indicator at all to say where you're supposed to go. You've literally just got to hope you're on the road that the game wants you to be on. There's absolutely no indicators.
4) The ferocity of the colour changes which can flick from red to green to orange to blue to yellow to purple, seemingly randomly, with no gradient of colour change. It truly makes the game hard to look at.
5) The mechanical voice, it's horrible to listen to.
6) The 'speed' counter, after you've been in a level for 10-15 turns, starts to display speed values as #.#999999. For example, instead of indicating a solid decimal speed of '3.5', it would say '3.499999'. It truly looks horrible and unpolished.
7) The game takes the entire bottom third (1/3) of the screen to just display numbers in a poorly-configured way. There's no excuse for this, and it's a waste of screen real estate, especially when you could easily say what each number means to the player with simple descriptions such as 'Distance', 'Number of turns', etc.
I truly tried to like this game, but it's just so many things. And I probably wouldn't be judging it as harshly if the game hadn't come out over 5 years ago (at time of recording) on Steam, back in April 2016. Surely there must have been someone who said that these effects are unpleasant to look at. I can't be the only one?! My entire chat agreed with me when I was playing too!
Please note that this promo/review is provided in its entirety, unedited, from start to finish. Enjoy!
