PS 5 HD Camera VS PS4 Camera. What Every Streamer needs to know.
PS 5 HD Camera review. What Every Streamer needs to know.
I have been testing everything I could on the PS5, from PS5 Games, 4k 60fps captures, PS4 Backwards compatibility to the PS5 SSD, 4K HDR movies & Live Streaming. All in an effort to see what works, doesn't & what is worth the purchase.
The console is GOOD so far, GOOD. Don't let anybody tell you otherwise. It does not suck & it is NOT amazing, unless this is your first console or gaming device, then for you it is AMAZING BALLS!
The HD Camera is the topic at hand in today's video. It is a solid 6/10.
Even though the Camera is capable of capturing & broadcasting an HD image at 1080p, the conditions must be PERFECT for it to do so. You have to have the perfect daylight hitting you & your room, or it will look terrible. If the lighting is not literally Perfect, your image will come off as washed out, muddy & Flat. It is great for streamers that stream during day light, but bad for streamers that stream in the evening & night.
Since the lens is so much more powerful than the PS4 Camera, I cannot understand why it struggles with the Chroma Key (Green/Blue screen) so, SO much...even in Perfect lighting settings.
It is much smaller compared to the PS4 camera & lighter, which is both Good & Bad. Good because it is less cumbersome & less of an eye sore. But it is also Bad because it is much lighter & as a result with the cable being so thick & sturdy, it will easily fly off your TV if not secured properly & believe me, it is hard to secure it.
You will have a hard time mounting it on a tripod because of it's design, as cool as it looks like Wally. There is very little support & grip for the camera since it only has 1 point of articulation compared to the PS4 Camera that has 2 & easily grips your Flat panel TV or monitor. Cool design but not practical.
A big problem when it comes to Streaming or recording Gameplay, I cannot understate how severe it is, so caps lock it is: THERE WILL BE INTOLERABLE GAMEPLAY ECHO! I tried many things to try & resolve but unlike the PS4, simply plugging the PS4 earphone will not do the trick, at all.
So please, if anybody has managed to work around this, let me know.
That being said, DO NOT USE THE CONTROLER'S MIC WHEN BRADCASTING OR WHEN RECORDING, it sounds FRIGGING TERRIBLE. It is very tinny & sounds distant, coupled with the terrible gameplay echo it will be an unpleasant experience for your viewers.
The PS4 can capture your camera feed when you are recording (as far as I remember) but the PS5 does not do it, but it does capture your mic.
Last tip, ALWAYS TEST YOUR VIDEO CAPTURE & AUDIO BEFORE YOU DO A STREAM, my experience is that especially with the Blue Yeti Microphone, the PS5 will sometimes switch over to the controller mic even though you have the External mic selected.
I am certain Playstation will address & resolve all these issues, if not, most.
I just want the Echo to stop.
For ALL those reasons I am giving the PS5 HD Camera a 6/10 with room to grow.
If you still have a PS4 camera use that instead for now, they are at the same price point, more or less, save your money or buy one of the hundreds of games on sale on the PSN store available until the 9 & the 20 of January.
I hope You found this video informative & are now better equipped to make a purchasing choice. If I helped you out or if you had fun watching the video, please leave a Like, a comment if you wish & if you feel generous in these fast & dangerous times, Subscribe for all your gaming & Entertainment needs.
Thank You All
Happy New Year.
