[PS2 OPL] Experimenting External Optical Drive On PS2 console via OPL SMB
So, I'm doing a new discovery here - launching PS2 games on external optical drive through SMB from USB mini router. Both of these devices which is connected together must be powered by external power bank or wall adapter which carries 5V 2A. You cannot put it on PS2 USB ports, current not enough to supply these devices. Heck, this PS2 USB port even can't supply enough current to external optical disc drive alone for OPL USB functionality. Also, you will need a specific external ODD which have USB flash drive functionality (usually called as TV compatibility mode or Link2TV).
The PS2 game ISO must be converted with USBUtil first and then burned into blank disc. You cannot put PS2 game disc directly on the external optical drive yet. This proof-of-concept will have a potential of launching PS2 game disc directly without needing to dump, convert or more tedious steps to launch the game when the main PS2 optical disc drive fails.
PS: Now current-gen consoles will have external/detachable optical drive feature just to facilitate with such issues that had been faced with digital-only consoles...
