PSA for using FF7 PC mods on Win 10 1809 update
2If you're into the Final Fantasy VII modding scene, you'll have heard of Qhimm's forums. You're likely also familiar with the 7th Heaven mod manager.
To skip all the technical mumbo-jumbo that I don't really understand:
Essentially, in the 1809 update for Windows 10, Microsoft introduced a security measure that apparently blocks 7th Heaven's normal operations. Which, on paper, actually seems like a good thing, because it would block code injection into a running executable, but I digress. To get around that, I found this solution posted on Qhimm's forum: *Set the 7th Heaven executable to run as administrator, and then set your FF7 executable to run in 640x480 resolution.* (It... won't actually run at 640x480 unless you also instruct the OpenGL driver to do so, but hey.)
