Psalm 1 in Latin with Latin & English Text : Psalmus I
I was asked to make a playlist of the Psalms in Latin, especially for those who want help praying, pronouncing, & memorizing the Clementine Vulgate Psalms for the Breviary / Liturgy of the Hours; therefore, I plan to include the Gloria Patri (Glory Be) at the end of each Psalm, as is traditionally done. This is the first installment: Psalm 1 / Psalmus I. I have included the Douay-Rheims English translation line-by-line and have translated the Gloria Patri literally. I hope this helps many. Here is the Psalm Text:
Beátus vir qui non ábiit in consílio impiórum, et in via peccatórum non stetit, * et in cáthedra pestiléntiæ non sédit:
Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stood in the way of sinners, nor sat in the chair of pestilence.
But his will is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he shall meditate day and night.
And he shall be like a tree which is planted near the running waters, which shall bring forth its fruit, in due season.
And his leaf shall not fall off: and all whatsoever he shall do shall prosper.
Not so the wicked, not so: but like the dust, which the wind driveth from the face of the earth.
Therefore the wicked shall not rise again in judgment: nor sinners in the council of the just.
Quóniam novit Dóminus viam justórum: * et iter impiórum períbit.
For the Lord knoweth the way of the just: and the way of the wicked shall perish.
Glória Patri, et Fílio, * et Spirítui Sancto,
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
Sicut erat in princípio et nunc, et semper, * et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and always, and into the ages of ages. Amen.
