The Q4OS team has released a new update to their system, Q4OS 4.6. Check out the news and find out where to download the distro.
The Q4OS is a Linux distribution for Debian-based desktop, designed to offer classical - style user interface (Trinity) and simple accessories, as well as serving stable APIs for complex third-party applications such as Google Chrome, VirtualBox and development tools .
The system is also very useful for virtual cloud environments due to its very low hardware requirements.
Now, the developers of the Debian-based Q4OS Linux lightweight distribution have announced the release and general availability of Q4OS 4.6 as the latest stable release of the Q4OS 4 Gemini LTS series.
What's New in Q4OS 4.6
The latest release, Q4OS 4.6, is here after more than a year of development, based on the Debian 11 Bullseye operating system series and featuring the latest version of the Trinity Desktop Environment 14.0.10 as well as the KDE Plasma 5.20 desktop environment, as separate editions.
I think KDE Plasma and Trinity DE are great for Windows users who want to move to Linux, but if you have an older computer, especially one with a 32-bit processor (i686-PAE and i386), you need to go with the Trinity edition, which is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit systems with active and install-only media.
But if you have a newer PC, Q4OS offers the unique experience of having both KDE Plasma and TDE desktop environments in the same installation, easily switching between them.
One of the most exciting features of the Q4OS 4.6 release is an updated Desktop Profiler utility that now supports custom profiles, a feature that allows users to export their current desktop status as a snapshot that can be modified or edited to create other custom profiles, as well as support for maintaining application profiles for each desktop environment.
Based on the Debian 11 Bullseye operating system series, the Q4OS 4 Gemini series will ship with the Linux 5.10 LTS kernel with long-term support.
In addition, Q4OS 4 Gemini is a long-term support release that will receive security patches and software updates for at least five years.
Download and try Q4OS 4.6
If you are using the Q4OS 4.6 series on your personal computer, you just need to perform a regular system update to get all the new features, bug fixes and updated packages included in the Q4OS 3.15 release.
