And Inkscape 1.1.1 was released with some bug fixes, and more. Check out the news and see how to install on Linux.
Inkscape is a quality SVG editor that runs on Linux, Mac and Windows systems and can be used to create or edit vector graphics such as logos, diagrams, illustrations, graphics and anything else in between.
Inkscape has sophisticated drawing tools with features comparable to Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW and Xara Xtreme. You can import and export various file formats including SVG, AI, EPS, PDF, PS and PNG.
It has a full set of features, a simple interface, multilingual support and is designed to be extensible, users can customize Inkscape functionality with plug-ins.
The editor provides flexible drawing tools and supports reading and saving images in SVG, OpenDocument Drawing, DXF, WMF, EMF, sk1, PDF, EPS, PostScript and PNG formats.
Now, Inkscape 1.1.1 has been released today with several bug fixes and crashes for this free, open-source, cross-platform scalable vector graphics editor for GNU/Linux, macOS and Windows.
What's New in Inkscape 1.1.1
Inkscape 1.1.1 is the first one-off release in the Inkscape 1.1 series and arrives about four months later to resolve many bugs, crashes and whatnot.
But Inkscape 1.1.1 also adds a new feature to make it easier for users to donate to the project, namely a link to the Inkscape donations page in the Help menu.
As for the bugs fixed, this release improves the Stroke to Path action to work on text again and to no longer lose an object ID when undoing it, improves the Object to Path action to work on an object with a Live Path effect when undo it without also undoing the previous action and improves the screen so that it no longer blurs when moving the window from a HiDPI display to a non-HiDPI display.
Several small changes have been made to the Text and Font, Transform and Welcome dialogs, clicking the resize tab now toggles visibility of the docked dialog, some unnecessary terminal warnings about optional font directories not being used have been removed and it is now possible to click and select objects in various grow window managers such as Wmii (Improved Window Manager).
Among other noteworthy changes, Inkscape 1.1.1 adds transparency support when applying the filter Filtros → Preenchimento e Transparência → Corte rápido, fixes a bug in the start/end markers that caused the path tip to stick out over the end of the arrow marker, and improves the Measurement Tool to prevent measurements from being restarted with a right click or tool change, as well as to make the font size and precision settings work again.
For Linux users, Inkscape 1.1.1 fixes the optimized Save As - SVG feature in AppImage, as well as the ability to open EPS files when using Inkscape in the Snap packaging format.
Of course, several translations were updated, memory leaks were connected and some crashes and compilation issues were resolved.
How to install or update Inkscape
Inkscape is available for Windows, Linux and macOS. The downloads of the Linux show a binary AppImage, a Snap package and an Ubuntu / Linux Mint PPA.
Although this is not mentioned on the Inkscape download page, the application can also be installed from Flathub, although it has not yet been updated to the latest 1.1 version.
