Nitrux is a Debian-based Linux distribution, suitable for laptops and desktop computers, with the beautiful NX Desktop and MauiKit applications.
Its main desktop environment is Nomad, a KDE Plasma desktop enhanced with “plasmoids to create a special combination of aesthetics and functionality.
On top of this, the project also focuses on creating redistributable applications using the AppImage format.
Now, Uri Herrera of the Nitrux project has announced the release of Nitrux 1.6.1.

Nitrux developers can make a live ISO every month and be able to incorporate the latest Linux kernel on the market, and this is where they stand out.
If you want to use a Debian based distribution that doesn't come with systemd and focuses on the latest and greatest KDE Plasma desktop environment, you can always count on Nitrux.
The new version, Nitrux 1.6.1, was released with Linux kernel 5.14.8 as the default kernel, along with Linux kernel 5.10.69 LTS and Linux kernel 5.4.149 LTS for users who want to use a kernel with long-term support, also as the KDE Plasma 5.22.5 desktop environment, KDE Gear 21.08.1 and KDE Frameworks 5.86 software packages.
In addition, it includes the newly released Inkscape 1.1.1 scalable vector graphics editor and Mozilla Firefox 92 as the default web browser, which is available as a sandboxed AppImage by default.
Nitrux uses the impressive Calamares as the default graphical installer, and this release updates it with a new QML module for the summary screen. Also updated the minimum ISO to the same base as the major version.
Obviously, Nitrux 1.6.1 is only here for those who want to give this Debian-based distribution a chance on their computers, those who want to reinstall or anyone who wants to deploy Nitrux on more computers.
Existing users of Nitrux 1.6 only need to update their installations using the instructions provided by the developers at the end of the release notes, which also provide users with important information about using NVIDIA's proprietary graphics driver, using Wayland, or installing Mesa-git for a performance gain in games.
