Ubuntu 21.10 beta is now available to download. Ubuntu 21.10 has been in development since May 2021. This is the beta version of the stable Ubuntu 21.10 release, that is going to be made public on October 14, 2021. Ubuntu 21.10 beta ships with the latest GNOME 40.4 point release and it is powered by Linux Kernel 5.13.
You will find the Wayland support for NVIDIA hardware users, new multi-touch gestures and other features in this beta version.
Most important part of this release is that the users can get the early experience of the final version of the Ubuntu 21.10. You will see the Ubuntu Dock on the left side of the screen.
Some of the features:
Pulseaudio now includes support for bluetooth LDAC and AptX bluetooth and HFP profiles, providing better audio quality.
Firefox version 92 is now seeded as a snap by default.
Wayland sessions are now available while using the nvidia video drivers.

The British Linux distributor Canonical has now officially released the final beta of its next free operating system Ubuntu 21.10 ("Impish Indri"), which will be released on October 14th, for everyone to download. For the first time, Ubuntu will deliver the Mozilla Firefox browser in snap format .
Snap on the rise and Gnome 40 as your desktop
Said Firefox comes in the current version 92.0.1 to use and defaults, and for the first time not as a snap as a Debian package ( deb installed). The calendar and e-mail client Mozilla Thunderbird 91.1.1 and the free office suite LibreOffice 7.2.1 are also available as a snap on the credit side.
Firefox 92 is now seeded as a snap by default, instead of a deb package. The snap is jointly maintained by Mozilla and Canonical. The deb package remains available in the archive and will continue receiving updates for the lifetime of impish.

The official release notes of the last beta version of Ubuntu 21.10 ("Impish Indri") before the release of the free operating system, which for the first time also relies on the free desktop Gnome 40 , also list the following new features for the preliminary version:
Ubuntu desktop

Ubuntu 21.10 includes Gnome version 40, including a new and improved Activities Overview design. Workspaces are now arranged horizontally, and the overview and app grid are accessed vertically. Each direction has accompanying keyboard shortcuts, touchpad gestures and mouse actions.

NetworkManager version 1.32.10
The final release on Linux 5.14 will probably be based on Gnome 40.2 or Gnome 40.4 , while Gnome 41 is still left out for the time being. In addition to Ubuntu 21.10, the eight official derivatives, the so-called "Ubuntu Flavors", Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Mate, Ubuntu Studio and Xubuntu were released as beta. The version is supported for 9 months with updates and support. Ubuntu 22.04 LTS will be released on April 21, 2022 .
