Quake: NQW Co-Op (Vanilla Experience) | A Higher Difficulty - Sleeper Must Die! Preview (Skill 5)
The Goal is to make Quake harder -- increase monster density in maps, double monster damage, monsters don't do their pain animations (similar to Quake 2's nightmare skill). Anything to make the player's life miserable without making things tedious. The fun kind of tedious only. We've got a increased base health cap, armor rot (Pentagram of Protection protects armor from rotting if the armor is above it's smaller armor value), smaller armor values (Green and Yellow are similar to Quake 2's, but Red is 75 (Should be foreshadowing a next project). The armors are also more durable as a compromise.), better health rot system when you grab megahealth for all skill levels (skill 5 ticks down by 2), new item placements. Shamblers are even more resistant (~75% (without Quad Damage), up from vanilla's ~50%. YES SHAMBLERS WERE RESISTANT TO ROCKETS ALL ALONG. READ QUAKE'S MANUAL. https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/2310/manuals/QUAKE%20Manual.pdf?t=1572894215). Shamblers take ~24 Rockets (without Quad Damage) instead of ~12 Rockets, despite their health being 600 and Rockets doing 100 (plus 20 random) damage a pop. All this without changing any of the previous difficulties. This is Net QuakeWorld baby. As an addition, I've tripled down on QuakeWorld-ness by adding custom player models, and skins (similar fashion to Quake Champions Classic). In a way this adds Quake 2's custom player models and QuakeWorld skins features into the original Quake. To me, QuakeWorld is no longer a source port, it's a universe now.
Also, I do have plans to bring back Quake's cut enemies. The Serpent (Qtest), the original Dragon (Qtest), Vomitus (Qtest), and the pissing Ax-Murdering Ogre (Prerelease).
Edit: I think I will be adding Deathmatch support too. Also the addition of armor shards, health vials, haste, regeneration items, and CTF, Instagib CTF, Mock Quake 2 Railwarz CTF, Speedrunning/Coop Speedrunning Game Types. Plus I have plans to merge all expansions/official mission packs and some add-ons into one source so there no more need to add any additional public server, if there's ever a host to that wants one server to rule them all! It's all be seamless if the server is dedicated with an FTE Server. If using any other source port to host, you'll be missing out on any higher difficulties above Nightmare, just a heads ups.
Oh, let's not forget... The Railgun.
