This Year One video takes us back to one of the most legendary adventure/RPG hybrids of all time — Quest for Glory I: So You Want to Be a Hero. Originally streamed in June 2020, this is a full longplay of the 1989 EGA version, where I step into the boots of Sly Nimblefingers, a Thief looking to make his mark in the valley of Spielburg — through both heroism and a little bit of well-placed larceny.

Designed by Lori Ann Cole and published by Sierra On-Line, QFG1 is set in a land under the curse of the wicked ogress Baba Yaga. With the baron’s family in shambles, brigands running wild, and goblins lurking in the forests, it's up to our quick-fingered protagonist to restore peace, prove his worth, and maybe borrow a few valuables along the way. As a Thief, I sneak through town at night, break into the houses of the same people I'm here to save, and try not to get caught — while still fulfilling my duties as an upstanding (mostly) hero.

If you love classic Sierra adventures or just want to see how a Thief handles hero work, hit like, drop a comment, and subscribe for more throwback videos!
