Quest: Spend Quality Time with Gat | "SR3 Wrap-Up" - Saints Row IV: Re-Elected
The boys are back in town! Or... the boy and girl are back in town. If this thumbnail were a movie poster, I'd pay to see every showing of it. I know it's been quite few videos since Johnny was rescued from Zinyak's simulation and reunited with the rest of the crew, but we're finally getting to do his loyalty quest, and how fitting that the event would be a shoot-em-up murder course with nonstop killing and carnage - just what Johnny and The Boss are into!
And that's the thing, I saw how similar the two were from this quest. The Boss and Johnny got to spend some quality time and really open up to each other after so many years of separation. I'd say it was a great bonding moment, but this was showing how much of a bond they already have. Johnny and The Boss are each other's best friends. From their back-and-forth, it's easy to see how well they know each other, and made me able to imagine how much Johnny's death must've hit her too.
And they actually look like they make a nice pair, and I'm not just saying that because Johnny's a kick-ass buff handsome guy and The Boss is a kick-ass hot topless girl. They got chemistry. They're like opposite gender versions of each other. They fit together like physical AND sociopathic (puckish roguish) pieces of a puzzle..
tl;dr - I think I ship them more than I was pushing The Boss and Matt. He likes Asha, after al
Speaking of Matt, it was indeed a very fitting end to have them face off against Phillipe - the man whom we'd thought had ended Johnny's life. Having seen the scene where Johnny "died" in Saints Row the 3rd, I now have more appreciation for this moment. And the whole challenge was just a ton of fun. No shortage of targets to slaughter. Very fitting of a Professor Genki murder course, which may as well just be called a "course", because with Genki... the murder is always implied.
Also, I know that more than just the dialogue in that island/jungle section got drowned out, but that was the only section I replayed that didn't get drowned out. From replaying that part, we got to hear more about how Johnny's death affected Shaundi, and more of the in-joke how Keith David in the game is knowingly being played by Keith David the actor, and how he sounds like Julius (because Julius was voiced by Keith), and from what we now know about Julius, explains why Keith keeps saying "I'm nothing like Julius!".
Anyway, what was mainly missed in the first part was Johnny asking The Boss what her personal hell was, which was her being trapped in a 50s sitcom where the Saints didn't have power, but she told him that she started with nothing once and could just rebuild like before. Respect.
And if Johnny was bad now, then now he's an utter nigtmare with super powers.
