Thinking to Become a Game Developer But Software Engineering Career pay well than What to decide and go for ?
I m a small Indie Game Developer and Build small games project in Construct 2 so I m in a position to answer the question well.
First I want to define what is the diffrent of pay between Game Developer or Software Engineer.
Game Development vs Software Engineering:
1. Game Development Career: Which is on the worst to have with low pay around $40,000 USD Anually and horrible working timing due a lot of suppy of Game Developers.
2. Software Engineering Career: With $50,000 to $80,000 USD starting salary with a lot of benefits from the day one due to high demand of Software Engineers.

For Money I will say become a Software Engineer or Software Developer over the Video Game Programmer. Now a days everybody want to develop games so there is more graduates of Game Development degree and less demand for it.
Game Developer vs Software Engineer and My answer is becoming a Software Engineer and Build Indie Games on the Side which is the best way to have both at the Same time. If you are new to Game Development than Start building games using the Construct 2 game engine which is favorite for 2D Games.
