Quick Look | Kings Quest (2015-16 ish) Oh Dear
1A game that made a Genre , re-remade for the new generation to be a QTE CGI Multi Adventure, mimicking Telltale adventure formula ... oh dear
Some asked me about my opinion about this ... new KQ , my answer back was ... The fan made "Silver Lining" was "x Infinity" better ...
So what is this new game ... its a Kickstarted thing that remastered the old game stories and placed them as episodes, that together form a story .
This thing is an Insult to the whole Kings Quest series ... some say the same about KQ 8 that became a 3D RPG with combat ... but i say, it was the best thing that could have happen to this whole series (I wanted Quest for Glory V to be that GOOD ... but it was not )...
then go Derp and remake all your favorite memories into a QTE CGI movie with Decisions , just for the derp nation ... just to fit it ... just to sell product *facepalm*
People say KQ died when it wanted to be like Quest For Glory ... comparing KQ8 to Ultima 9 ... Ultima 9 that forgot all its lore, just to be a 3D thing "What is a Paladin" ... but KQ8 was not like that, it embraced it all and went beyond ...
this on the other hand retells it all, and remakes it to FIT in this new generation (old king talking to young child symbolism) thats why it has NO NUMBER
If you knew the KQ and liked it ... fucking stay way from this ... go play Sliver Lining
if your young , play it ... but then play the older games , and you will understand my point (even embrace KQ8 that became a 3D RPG , similar to Gothic with good adventure logic puzzles)
