Quick Look | Madagascar 1 (2005) - ( PC version )
0A word of warning : This game was edited to hell and back ... and back again, DreamWorks does not fuck around with theirs stuff ... so no music from the Game (in some bits) no Movie cutscenes (it was the first one that showed the whole movie)
Quicky : Game is (was) Excellent ... i am done
so lets just fill this void with a big OFF TOPIC , about why you don't see this type of games on today's Next Gen Consoles (but only on cheap crap ones Smartphone/Wii etc..) : Disney movies and games where a "thing" back in the glory days of theirs game studio (use them as a easy example)... the thing was games came faster then the movie ... and well they threaten them as a promotion material ( miscellaneous stuff) for the main attraction... so they had to be GOOD to make a good PR for the movie.... and for that all will say Disney Game Studios made DAMN FINE GAMES ... games that where better then the movie...ouch
So Imagine this : You get this excellent game before the sub par movie ... a game that was more fun then that, ehm awful thing (not speaking about Magadascar here ) ... so you have this two divisions one that makes a PR game that costs 30-50 mln (to promote an awful movie , the hype machine)... and a movie division that made the movie for 100-200 mln ...
when you look on them in this light then it made sense ... cheap PR HYPE
Now lets go forward in time , when PR now cost the same as a movie ...and now imagine you have to make them GOOD and UP to standards , when your PC can render in Real time the things see In movies .... Making games doesn't look as cost effective now like it did back in those days ... when now a 100-200 mln game success will dictate the success of that 150-200mln movie ... if the game flops OH DEAR YOU....
So one had to go ... (and now about some stuff about disney game studios) some blame the Lucas Arts ... some greed ... some mismanagement of funds ... some the failure on Epic Mickey 2 ... I blame Disney portfolio that became to stale and wanted StarWars infinitive moneymaker machine ... to save them from sudden bankruptcy : Google DISNEY'S ABANDONED to see attractions so forgotten ... some urban explorers find them new
