
Quick Look PSVR | Golem (2019) a VR Game from Devhell
Welcome to a game that was stuck in development hell for 4-5 years ... stuck so much it has (or had) an ancient system of moving in VR space ... lean your head like you would hurl to walk , yeah ... when all games in the past 5 years , figured out how to move in VR.. this game was stuck in the past ... past of 600p in vr , the blur-ness of the resolution can be seen ... yeah stuck in the past ...
Not to mention the missing tutorial how to move (if that first doll golem is the tutorial then its broken Af )... or even information that YOU CAN CONTROL THIS GAME WITH A GAMEPAD ... you hold a pad in one hand to move , in the other your "Move Wand" for 1:1 weapon movement ...
Other then that , this game looses tracking for your head\body ... in the weirdest situations, 1:52:27 shows one of 30 (or more) tracking errors that i had playing this game for nearly 3h ...
A game so broken ... then why you still play it ... its fun
The main story is build on the "Journey into the Unknown" ... about a scavenger family living from selling relics from ancient temple ruins ... but this family has a secret , they can posses Golems to explore ruins that are not accessible by living things ... your story begins when your sister is killed by a Golem ,and you lose the ability to walk , but with a gift from his dead sister your can now transfer your mind into Golems ... that come in different shapes and sizes ...
So you posses them to explore the ruins , and find out who killed your sister ... all this build around a Rouge-like RPG system ... and Doors locked by masks , that each golem has ... the thing is to open a door you have to re-asamble your golem with the set Mask and re-spawn it again to open it (that also resurrects all destroyed Golems and you loose your equipped Masks\weapons\Health Crystals)... then are hit again by a obstacle ... fight another golem for a mask\weapon ... till you end the game
Fighting style depends on the place your in, and what weapon you have ... and who you will fight ... a short sword can't defeat a spear golem ,BUT ... trap him in a tight space , so he will have problems moving and you will win ... was sells this are those fights , since each weapon has physical space awareness even from your side , so you have to think what Maks\Weapons you pick ... to survive
Combat is mostly deflect then attack ... but in the heat of the battle ... this game will crap on you and lose tracking...
Tracking, the main problem that kills this game ... that even now after they patched in another batch of fixes , still is broken ... af
But yet ... its design lures you in ... that 3h for you, where 1h for me ... and when a game makes you forget about time itself ... then you know its fun
