Our resident Loremaster returns with more sage advice for all you new, up and coming Dm's and perhaps something of a refresher for you most veteran of storytellers and worldshapers alike!
It can be easy to let the brain train roll at high speeds, barreling through every thought, idea and image of epic adventure and unbridled awesomeness! But for the new and unwary: these things can lead to a kind of burnout amongst your players.
If they've had to stop several world ending events, then the world ending ceases to really have a lot of meaning. The most dire of threats are all that can really stir their attention, while the most lowly of opponents will be a bored wave of the hand.
By spreading out such adventures with more localized threats and taking the time to really think out how to make these threatening to your players; you can really do a lot to cleanse the veritable gamer palette with adventures that feel fresh, exciting and diverse.
And so it goes regardless of the literary spice you apply to your game: Horror, Comedy, High Adventure, Low Magic, Political Intrigue, Corporate Dealings, Organized Crime, or Mystery games; all will benefit from taking the time to mix and match different elements to not only help your world feel more real and dynamic.
So join us, dear friends, as our Loremaster delves into this topic, right here at The Gamers Den!
