The original R-Type was an arcade game from 1987, and it is one of my favourite games of all time. It's a pretty technical scrolling shooter where you slowly drift through spooky space locations, packed with horrific aliens and their weaponry. The arcade game had several sequels released in the 1990s, culminating with R-Type Final released for the PlayStation 2 in 2003.
R-Type Final 2 is the 6th R-Type game, scheduled for release at the end of this month. It was crowdfunded in 2019 by developer Granzella.
