R-TYPE FINAL / R-TYPE V - (PS2 - FULL GAME + SECRET LEVELS)
54Zeus presents R-Type Final (aka R-Type V) on the PS2, a true classic from the golden era of arcade gaming which must not be forgotten alongside the software house and all programmers that were involved in making this game.
Year of release: 2003
Well this was supposed to be the last R-Type game hence the word "Final" in the title only for an outside team to now be doing R-Type Final 2,...I mean really?! lol.
Anyway, R-Type now blasts onto the PS2 with huge graphical improvements, not surprising really as It's using PS2 hardware.
This game is huge in every way, long levels, tons of enemies, large bosses, secret bonus altenate levels (included in this upload - see times below), 99 different ships to choose from (once unlocked) and the abilty to choose your ships colours.
The ripple weapon makes a glad return in all It's glowy red and blue colour, well it wouldn't be R-Type without it would it, but that's just the start, many of those 99 ships have different weapons, the most stunning weapon is what I use during the secret time warp stage (Stage 7C) which is considered the very last stage of the game (shown in this video - as said bonus stage times listed below this write up), you also have your usual bonus weapon which is activated by keeping the fire button down.
You know when you're in for something strange and that's the moment you start level 1, it has the most piculiar flying angle over a landscape I have ever seen,...see for yourself.
As said there are also secret stages in the game and to play them you must hit certain criterea within the game which also means once again playing a second and even third loop to unlock them. The one very disappointing thing about this game is the fact there is no real good end sequences, just a minute one on all 3 endings followed by a staff roll (exactly what happens with Gradius V on the PS2),...I mean c'mon, It's a PS2 shmup, I WANT GOOD END SEQUENCES!!!
All in all a great game and any R-Type fan should have this in their collection.
I have used the invincibilty cheat so I could upload the entire game and It's bonus levels for your viewing pleasure.

Levels 6.1: 1:05:42 / FB - 1:09:21/ Ending II: 1:15:10 (2nd loop of game to see these stages).
Levels 6.2: 1:19:35 (Neon Space) / FC: 1:26:37 (Time Warp) / Ending III: 1:39:45 (3rd loop of game to see these stages).
Level 3.5: 1:44:06 (Beat level 3 using Ship # 69 "Crossing the Rubicon" to see this level before proceeding to level 4).
