Racing Dynamics Plus (2004) - Every PC Rally Game
Racing Dynamics Plus by gamestudio CLUBMAN / Romdia, 2004.
This is the rare commercially released version of 2002's Racing Dynamics (see my separate video on that one.
Released in Japan on Romdia's ultra-budget 100 Yen range (that's less than 1 dollar in the US or around 70 pence in the UK), this sold around 20,000 copies before not being available for sale any more. Luckily the developer sent me a copy to include here!
The "Plus" extension brought these additions over the freeware version: some extra cars (with a WRC derived Subaru Impreza and Ford Focus; the latter recoloured from the freeware version to avoid copyright issues!), two extra stages (Seaside and Mountain), plus a full "Battle Mode", where you race 5 one-on-one battles against a computer-controlled car, in order to unlock the extra cars and tracks. The Battle Mode also allows replays (shown in the final clip here, as it's the only one where you drive a rally car in the Battle Mode).
There's some music tracks too (disabled here) but they don't add a huge amount to the gameplay. I've captured this one in widescreen, despite some parts of the interface looking a bit stretched.
Handling is tricky; very slow on keyboard and on my Logitech G920 it uses the full 900 degree range (even if set less in the Logitech software), which (unlike the freeware version) makes it too slow handling to work. So I played here on keyboard.
