R2000 (2001) - Every PC Rally Game
R2000 by y-hiro, 2001.
A small, freeware 3 lap rally game, still available from the developer's website: http://www.tim.hi-ho.ne.jp/y-hirota/index_pc.html - click the link on the left for R2000 (1.95MB).
Developed by Hiro aka y-hiro/y-hirota, this is a Japanese developed mini-game, through which the solo developer improved his programming skills. It's really challenging though; my video here makes it look quite easy to beat the computer controlled car, but it took many attempts! See if you can beat my lap times!
The game has quite heavy handling, with braking giving you a bit more drift angle. But the large boulders dotted around the track need to be memorised, in order to get the best lap/s!
If you win the race (as I do here) you get a full replay of your race, which I've spliced in-between the parts of me playing it. This video is my full 3 lap race. The developer suggests getting drunk whilst watching the replay! At least that's what translation software thinks he says!
I'm running the game using dgVoodoo2 to sort out the graphics; it is possible to them upscale it to HD and above, but I'm running it at original resolution.
