(Ultra) Nitro Racers (2015) - Every PC Rally Game
Ultra Nitro Racers by GameHitZone, 2015. Nitro Racers by GameTap, 2011.
Nitro Racers was originally released by GameTap in 2011. Ultra Nitro Racers was then released by GameHitZone in 2015. Essentially both are almost identical, although the version shown here (Ultra Nitro Racers) has had real-life sponsorship censored away from the cars (and tracks) in the game.
For example: Nitro Racers had a Subaru Impreza model with Beta sponsorship, whilst here it's been switched for a recoloured Infineon version, then had (most of) the official logos removed. Similarly the Toyota Celica has had the Castrol logos removed and been tinted yellow.
There are several other cars in the game (Lister Storm, Dodge Viper, TVR Speed 12 - shown briefly here to indicate how fast the game can get). Track-wise, the game includes a number of real-life tracks, with fictional names. Some are mirrored/reversed though. These include an awful version of Knockhill, Laguna Seca, Spa-Francorchamps and a track that feels like a modded Silverstone.
All tracks are laden with boost pads, which you need to use. Car damage is purely visual (and can be incurred just by driving the bumpy tracks sometimes!). Sound is alright, nothing to write home about (I've disabled the music here). Handling is weird, with a sort-of-drift button, that's meant to help you take hairpins, but often leads to a lack of control!
I suspect most of these car (and track) models have likely just been purchased from asset stores and stuck together into a game though, as the Celica (in particular) I've seen in other games.
There's also the issue of the installer/game possibly running unwanted programs (e.g. popping up a website when you close the game), so it does feel a bit risky running it!
Ultimately though, it's not really a rally game, but does have a couple of rally cars in it!
