Railfanning the UP Mineola Sub & UP Corsicana Sub featuring UP 1989 - 2/6/21
On the first Saturday of the month, me and a few friends decided to take the opportunity to railfan in East Texas. We left DFW around 7am and headed straight for Mineola. We did see 2 westbounds on the Big Sandy Virtual Railfan camera, so we decided to stop for them wherever we could. We stopped at Ham Orchards for the 1st train, and we stopped at a private crossing east of Edgewood for the 2nd train. Then we got to Mineola where we met up with another friend and we were there for about 3 1/2 hours where we saw 3 westbound trains, including Amtrak's Southbound Texas Eagle. Around noon, we saw the light of an eastbound train so we decided to chase it to Fada and then to Big Sandy and then to Wilkins. Then after seeing the train at 3 different locations, we went to Downtown Gladewater where it started to rain! We waited about an hour for the next eastbound! Then we started heading west back to Big Sandy where the action started to explode! We decided to chase a train on the Corsicana Sub all the way to a small town called Winona. Then we went back to Big Sandy where another was waiting for a crew change, and to our surprise, it had the Rio Grande engine 1989! After that, we went back to Mineola where nothing came after that!
