Rainbowing Some Sixes
Episode 4 - Ship Yard

This is the fourth episode of our (now) five player co-op Let's Play of Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. In this series we will be playing through the main campaign and expansions of Rainbow Six 3, a 2003 PC game developed by Red Storm Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.

You can track our progress on beatthatbacklog.com, a website I run to chronicle my attempts at beating my unfinished games, or backloggery.com/neuteboom, where I keep a full list of my collection. You can also find links to everyone else's backlog in the Multitap section.

We welcome our friend Michael Drewes to the game for this episode, turning this into FIVE PLAYER online co-op game. Seriously, how many games these days let you do that? Usually there's a strict player cap of four, but Rainbow Six 3 supports up to eight simultaneous players in its co-op mode. So technically we can still add more! Although five players means that AI help is automatically turned off (meaning no extra lives), we're definitely very happy to have Drewes join the team.

It occurred to me this episode that you might be a bit confused by our code names. Back in the original Rainbow Six, we each had AI partners in our squads that we chose solely by the coolness of their names. When Ghost Recon came around, we decided to adopt their old names to our new code names, and the tradition sort of stuck. Here is a quick guide to help you determine who we're addressing each time:

Ding Chavez = Me (Matt)
Rakuzanka = Andrew
Genedy Filatov = Jeremy ("Jay")
Victor McGill = Dan
Drewes = ...Drewes (he still needs to pick a code name)

Enjoy the episode, it gets quite suspenseful towards the end.
