The instructions are still the same as below, but the files are now available in one folder, from the following link: http://www.mediafire.com/?8cggxkcrxw4chvy
To set up Quake 3 on the Raspberry Pi I downloaded the precompiled binarys from " http://radium.hexxeh.net/quake3.zip " I then extracted these to a USB stick and tracked down the required pak files by downloading the Quake 3 Demo installer from
"ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake3/win32/q3ademo.exe" (Alternative location: http://www.shacknews.com/file/59/quake-3-arena-demo) and the Quake 3 Arena 1.32 Point Release Installer from
"ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/idstuff/quake3/win32/q3pointrelease_132.exe".
Once you have installed these files the required pak0.pk3 file is located in
"C:\Q3Ademo\demoq3" The rest of the pak files (pak1.pk3 to pak8.pk3) are in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Quake III Arena\baseq3"
Once you have located these files you need to copy them to the baseq3 folder in the quake3 folder that you extracted to your usb stick earlier. After putting the usb stick back into the Pi I copied the quake3 folder to my home directory and ran the following commands in the terminal to correctly set up the permissions:
sudo chmod +x /home/pi/quake3/start.sh
sudo chmod +x /home/pi/quake3/ioquake3.arm
sudo chmod +x /home/pi/quake3/ioq3ded.arm
If you are not using the default "pi" user account just change the "pi" to your username. If you wanted to you might be able to just run quake 3 from the usb stick by simply pointing the above commands to your usb stick but I have not tried this. I'm not too sure that it would work as the usb stick would most likely be formatted as FAT32 and therefore not compatible with linux permission settings but I cannot confirm this. Once the files are in place and the permissions are set all you need to do is type "cd quake3" and then "sudo ./start.sh" into a terminal window and the game should start. It will ask for a CD Key but it is not required and pressing escape to skip this prompt will allow you to play the demo levels
