Rat plays Tomb Raider on 32X (OpenLara alpha demo played in Kega Fusion)
1Yo, I'm Armored Core Raven aka Rat, and I wanted to play something for Lara's birthday, today, Valentine's Day 14 feb, and this 32X OpenLara aplha demo was recently released and I absolutely love it!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LARA!
According to the info I was able to find on this version; this demo is running on only one of the two 32X processors and is the earliest playable version released to the public earlier in 2024.
The code is currently unoptimized, there's no sound and only the first level is playable.
You can unlock Lara's gym outfit by going to the main menu and going to the Lara's Home option, with this you have no access to weapons or health packs.
All gameplay features from the original game are present (sans swimming, as there's no water in the first level) and it makes use of the 8-button Arcade Pad.
If you die you can instantly revive Lara by pressing the button to take out your guns and the jump button simultaneously.
There is a free-camera mode. (I love this feature!)
Even the edge-jump-glitch that can teleport Lara onto otherwise unreachable platforms works, and so does the walk backwards on crumbling platforms to teleport downward safely as well.
I'm playing it emulated on the Kega Fusion emulator under Windows 10 and I used the AVI logging feature in Kega Fusion to record the video directly.
