Part 1 of my Rayman 2: The Great Escape longplay.

Now here's a special little series. When it comes to my channel, most of the games (if not all) are games I've had history with. I love the franchises, I grew up with the games.

But Rayman is not a franchise I have history with. Most I did was Rayman Origins, which was fun, but never really played a game before or after. So for me to play this game, I had to be introduced to it.

This is where another channel called GEM Gaming comes in. He's been doing remasters of video game soundtracks for a little while and he sent me a message a while back asking permission to use footage of my Metroid Prime 3 playthrough for his videos, which I was happy to give. We then got to talking and agreed that I'd do what I can to give him as much footage as he needs because... I dunno. Seems like it'd be a fun thing to do. I asked about future projects, he wanted to do Rayman 2 next, and I set to capturing the footage for him.

His Rayman 2 soundtrack remaster is already available, but now I've finally got around to uploading my playthrough to my channel!

This is the PC version of the game, as this titled was ported around just as much as Skyrim has, Odd thing is, each version of the game is a little different; the N64 version has a more robust soundtrack, for example (which is what GEM gaming remastered).

My experience with the game is what I'd consider somewhat positive. It wasn't developed by Nintendo and their famous reputation of polishing games to a shine, so they tend to age better. Rayman hasn't ever been what you'd consider a Triple A mascot platformer, so it didn't get as top notch attention and is therefor more susceptible to aging. There were certainly many, many moments in the game that was an absolute pain. But in the end, I can see how much of a treasured game this was to those who grew up with this game when it first came out.
