Rayze Demo Playthrough (Realms Deep 2021)
5This is one that slipped under my radar when I first looked at Steam's RD listing, but caught my eye during the main event stream.
This comes off as being one of those movement-tech-heavy games catering to speedrunners, but its premise is actually far simpler: you point and click on yellow panels to go fast, or point and click on blue bars to go slow in order to avoid collisions or regain control. Reach the end as fast as possible, or try to hit all of the panels.
Reaching high speeds ends up being incredibly problematic not only due to the difficulty in pointing where you want fast enough, but also due to the extreme fisheye that going fast seems to incur.
This definitely manages to generate the "itch" to improve your own scores... and the game seems rather predicated on it. I would be inclined to expect the final game to only take a couple of hours playing straight through if you don't stop and become obsessed with getting fast times or high grades on individual levels, in which case it could take forever.
One thing I really hope they do is actually master the soundtrack - the OST is cool, but the volume levels are incredibly inconsistent across songs in the demo.
