RDR2 - i5 with an RTX 3080 Ti - Performance Demo and a Few Rampages (No Commentary)
*Make sure to set the video to the appropriate resolution. I've been testing RDR2, with an RTX 3080 Ti and a Skylake i5, to see what the experience is like. It's pretty good, in the open world, but there's some slowdown, in even the smallest of towns. The slowdown is worse, in this video, than it is under normal circumstances, due to using ShadowPlay to record this in 4K. The game was played in native 4K.
More notes about the quality of this video: ShadowPlay is why the movement looks jerky. It was smooth, when I was actually playing the game. (this includes camera panning and any other jerky movements) And YouTube did no justice to the dark shadow quality. Again, when playing the game, the blacks were appropriately dark, and quite frankly, stunning to look at. YouTube makes them look weak and grainy.
When using an underpowered CPU with a strong GPU, such as the RTX 3080 Ti, it helps to force the game into 4K, even if you're not using a 4K screen. That helps balance things out, so you get way less stuttering and rubberbanding, than you would get, playing at a natvie 1080p or 1440p resolution.
Give the video a Like, if this has been useful in any way to you.
I posted a follow up video, that focused more on enjoying the game's vibe, than trying to stress the hardware. Click, here, if you'd like to see that one: https://youtu.be/vqKa9BoGrMg
