The footage was recorded off of a softmodded PS2, the scaling application I used is called GSM 0.37.
What is so special about using component connection for recording a PS1 game?
Well it's in the video so go watch ^_^
But also...
Sometimes HDPVR2 wont record PS1 or it will record them but will not let you see them on your tv which makes it impossible to play them or it will only record parts of them like cutscenes or it'll crash at every load screen... long story short normally it's not reliable for these sorts of outputs.
Also the only way you can capture PS1 with HDPVR2 normally is through Composite connection which while many people don't have a problem with that. In my opinion you may as well connectit with a potato.
You can play PS1 on your PS3 and record them with upscaling however for some reason allot of those games have sound issues especially when played off of a disc or just outright dont work correctly.
The compatibility on the PS2 is much more reliable(tho there still are games like FFIX or Legend of Dragoon that refuse to cooperate).
One could also say "just use an emulator and spare me your overly complicated bewlshit", to whom i reply:
