Recreating my 1987 C64 Setup Part 2: My 1541 Disk Drive
Here's episode 2 of my adventures recreating my original 1987 Commodore 64 setup. This time I take care of my original 1541 that I still own. It has some technical issues to fix and there's some dirt and grime to remove.
Part 1 (The Aldi C64) is here: https://youtu.be/K_fFsZ80Y0E
Part 3 (The Monitor) is here: https://youtu.be/Xa2mtPrI7rQ
Part 4 (The Grand Finale) is here: https://youtu.be/iTih2TY2OK4
Sorry about the poor audio quality in some parts of this. I used the wrong settings (shame on me). I didn't change it because I wanted to retain the spontaneous approach and feel of the video. Hope it's still enjoyable.
The 1541 Cartridge ROM can be downloaded from http://blog.worldofjani.com/?p=2180
There's also a pre made cartridge available to buy from https://www.protovision.games/shop/product_info.php?products_id=193&language=en
Here's a list of the capacitors in my 1541 (PCB revision 1540050 REV C):
1x 100uF Electrolytic 16V
2x 1uF Electrolytic 50V
2x 47uF Electrolytic 63V (lower voltage is ok, just used it because I had it)
1x 106 (10uF) Tantalum
1x 335 (3.3uF) Tantalum
2x 474 (0.47uF) Tantalum
